Alpha Omicron Pi was founded on a promise to serve not only one another but the greater community as well. This commitment reflects a philosophy of friendship, concern, and usefulness in the world.

Commitment to
Dignity

Whether a member chooses to serve as a chapter officer, or represent AOII as a member of other campus or community organizations, there are numerous opportunities to develop leadership skills as a member of AOII.

Commitment to
Scholarship

AOII encourages all members to excel academically and has many programs designed to assist women in achieving their academic goals. Expectations are high but the support provided by scholarship programs, academic development officer resources, and fellow members makes success attainable.

Commitment to
College Loyalty

Letter from the President

Hi and welcome to the Sigma Phi chapter!

Inspired by the friendships they founded at Barnard College of Columbia University, our four founders - Stella, Bess, Jessie, and Helen - met on January 2, 1897 to found a fraternity that reflected their bonds and values. One hundred and twenty one years later, Sigma Phi still inspires ambition by living out their values of character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty!

As a non-profit organization, we volunteer a great deal of our time, talent, and effort into supporting the Arthritis Foundation. Internationally, both collegiate and alumnae chapters have raised over $2,000,000 to benefit arthritis research, education, and children's camps. Here at Sigma Phi, we focus on raising awareness and funds for childhood arthritis - we contributed over $20,000 just last year! Our chapter enjoys fundraising for this cause through a Greek volleyball tournament (Spikeout) and philanthropy-centered fraternity pageant (Mr. CSUN).

As a leadership program, we give women the opportunity to see their own potential, and discover who they are meant to be! It teaches them the tools to be a successful public speaker, event planner, budget balancer, and much more. It also gives women the opportunity to take leadership roles that they may not be getting the classroom, or have the experience to gain in the workplace.

As a sisterhood, AO? has felt like home from the moment I joined. I can't remember a time where these women weren't my last-minute lunch buddies, shoulders to cry on, insightful advisors, peer role models, late-night study dates, and closest friends. They are empowered, selfless, supportive, and ambitious individuals - and absolutely unstoppable as a group. These women inspire me to be a reflection of their own greatness, and I could not have asked for a better place to call home.

Going Alpha O has been one of the best decisions I have ever made, and I can't wait to see how it inspires ambition in you!

Alpha Love,
Mahal Sourgose
